Post-pay day holdup: 5 lose P160,000 in Makati
MANILA, Philippines— Five people on a shuttle van were held up at gunpoint early Wednesday morning in Makati by four men and two women.
Radio reports said the victims lost about P160,000 worth of cash and valuables, which included high-end mobile phones, other electronic gadgets and jewelry studded engagement and wedding rings.
The victims who are employees from various companies in Pasig City hailed the unmarked Makati-bound shuttle van in Bagong Ilog, past 1 a.m., or more than an hour after the May 15th pay day. Reports said the suspects had already boarded the van before the victims took the ride. When the vehicle reached Ayala Avenue, the robbers drew their guns and declared the holdup.
After circling Ayala and Puyat avenues for several minutes, the robbers dropped off their victims in Urdaneta, Makati.
Police were hoping that the CCTV cameras installed in the area would provide clues to the license plate of the van and the identity of the perpetrators but to their dismay these were not working, reports said.
