Man nabbed for killing woman, stuffing body in cooler over loan dispute
MANILA, Philippines — A man who strangled a woman and placed her body inside a cooler in Trece Martires City, Cavite, was arrested in Pasay City, police said on Thursday.
The Police Regional Office 4A (Calabarzon) identified the 25-year-old victim as “Anna,” who supposedly lent money to the suspect, identified by the police as an alias “Wilson.”
Based on the investigation, police said that the suspect confided to his wife around 4:35 p.m. on Wednesday about “accidentally killing the victim by strangulation” and that he had placed her body inside an icebox before leaving her home in Barangay Hugo Perez.
“Prior to the incident, the suspect borrowed money from the victim, with repayment scheduled over a year. However, the suspect failed to meet the monthly payments, leading to tensions between the two parties,” the Calabarzon police said, citing an unnamed witness.
After committing the crime, the suspect fled the area, prompting authorities to launch a follow-up operation, which led to the suspect’s arrest, PRO4A reported.
