UP adopts new motto

MANILA, Philippines — The president of the University of the Philippines (UP) presented the school’s new motto on Tuesday.

In a Facebook post, UP President Angelo Jimenez shared a picture of the university’s logo which read “Honor, Excellence, Service.”

Previously, the school’s motto was “Honor and Excellence.”

“Our new motto. Honor and Excellence in the Service of the Nation! UP serves. It’s our reason for being,” Jimenez’s post said.

UP was established in June 1908 during the American occupation.
