MANILA, Philippines — Face-to-face classes in all levels in Pasay City are suspended on Wednesday and Thursday, May 15 to 16 due to intense heat forecast, the city government announced on Tuesday.
“Dahil sa patuloy na banta ng mas matinding init ng panahon o heat index, ipinababatid ng lokal na pamahalaan ang suspensyon ng Face-to-Face classes bukas, Mayo 15 hanggang Mayo 16, 2024 sa lahat ng antas – mapa-bribado man o pampublikong eskwelahan,” the Pasay City Public Information Office said in a Facebook post.
(Due to the continuing threat of higher heat levels or heat index, the local government announces the suspension of face-to-face classes tomorrow, May 15 and May 16, 2024, in all levels of private and public schools.)
It likewise advised school personnel to implement alternative modes of learning on the said dates.
The state weather bureau said that the heat index in Metro Manila from Wednesday to Thursday may reach up to a scorching 45 °C.
Under Executive Order No. 42 issued by Pasay City Mayor Imelda “Emi” Calixto-Rubiano, the in-person classes in the city are automatically suspected if the forecast heat index is 42 °C and above.
