MANILA, Philippines — Overcast skies and rain should be expected over parts of extreme northern Luzon on Tuesday, while generally fair weather and isolated thunderstorms are forecast in the rest of the country, the state weather bureau said.

“Isang frontal system ang posibleng makaapekto sa may extreme northern Luzon area, so diyan po sa Batanes pati na rin sa northeastern portion ng Cagayan – asahan ang kalat kalat na mga pagulan, pagkidlat at pagkulog,” Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Rhea Torres said.

(A frontal system would possibly affect the extreme northern Luzon area, so in Batanes, as well as the northeastern portion of Cagayan – expect scattered rain showers, lightning and thunder.)

“Samantalang magpapatuloy pa rin ang generally fair weather conditions na may mga tiyansa ng isolated na pagulan kadalasan sa hapon at sa gabi dulot ng mga localized thunderstorms [sa ibang bahagi ng Luzon],” she added.

(Generally fair weather is expected to continue, along with chances of isolated rain in the afternoon and at night due to localized thunderstorms in other parts of Luzon.)

Localized thunderstorms are also more likely in Palawan and Mindanao, with hot and humid temperatures still expected to prevail throughout both islands and Visayas, especially around noon.

Meanwhile, no typhoons or low-pressure areas are expected to enter or form within the Philippine area of responsibility.

“Kaya asahan natin hanggang sa mga susunod na araw ay magpapatuloy pa rin ‘yung mainit at maalinsangang panahon sa bansa (so expect hot and humid temperatures to continue in the following days,” said Torres.

Pagasa said the temperature range in key cities/areas across the country for Tuesday will be:

  • Metro Manila: 25 to 35 degrees Celsius
  • Baguio City: 18 to 24 degrees Celsius
  • Laoag City: 26 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Tuguegarao: 25 to 36 degrees Celsius
  • Legazpi City: 27 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Puerto Princesa City: 27 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Tagaytay: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Kalayaan Islands: 28 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Iloilo City: 27 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Cebu: 28 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Tacloban City: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Cagayan De Oro City: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Zamboanga City: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Davao City: 25 to 34 degrees Celsius

No gale warning has been raised, but moderate to rough wave conditions are expected on the coasts of extreme northern Luzon.
