MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief General Rommel Marbil is “confident” that “there is no truth” to rumors involving the organization to the latest ouster plot against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo said this during a press briefing on Thursday when asked about the destabilization rumors following former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV’s revelation that some of the officials behind the plot are based in Mindanao.

“The chief PNP is confident that there’s no truth on rumors na may namumuong destabilization plot at may involve the PNP personnel (on rumors that a destabilization plot involving police personnel is ongoing),” Fajardo maintained.

The police official likewise urged Trillanes to contact Marbil if he had sufficient evidence to support his claims.

Earlier, Fajardo appealed to the senator to spare the organization from such rumors, as she revealed that they had not monitored any senior police officials involved in such a plot.

Besides the destabilization moves, Trillanes also disclosed that the International Criminal Court (ICC) is expected to issue an arrest warrant against former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte by June or July.

Last month, the former senator also revealed that ICC has talked to around 50 former and incumbent police officials regarding the crime against humanity complaints against Duterte.

On the other hand, the PNP said it has no information on the claims, saying it would only recognize the country’s justice system.
