Cebuano Alqueza places third in PBC Int’l Open

FAST rising Cebuano kegler Heber “Daboy” Alqueza displayed flashes of his huge potential by finishing third in the 40th Philippine Bowling Congress (PBC) International Open held at Paeng Nepomuceno’s Midtown Bowling Lanes in Malate, Manila last June 11 to 25, 2011.

Heber, a member of the PRIMA Cebu Juniors Team, downed 1,897 pinfalls in the 10-game series highlighted by a 236 to finish third in the Mixed Associate Category where most of his opponents are senior bowlers from all over the country.

Nepomuceno, the country’s living bowling legend, topped the Open category while Asian Games gold medalist Biboy Rivera finished second. World Cup 2009 campaigner Jeff Carabeo rounded off the top three finishers.

Art Roxas of Manila Tenpin Bowling Association (MTBA) finished first in the Mixed Associate Category with 1,967 pinfalls followed by Amor Pardo with 1,924 pinfalls.

Placing fourth was Ryan Moneda with 1,877 pinfalls while Regan Lim settled for fifth with 1,865 among the 31 keglers who competed in the category. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
