Frontal system to bring cloudy skies, rain showers in northern Luzon

MANILA, Philippines — Northern Luzon will see cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms on Thursday due to a frontal system, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

The state weather bureau warned that flash floods or landslides may be experienced in the affected areas due to moderate to heavy rains.

“Possible po na makakaranas ng mga pag-ulan sa bahagi ng northern Luzon, or ilang bahagi ng northern Luzon area, diyan po sa Batanes at Cagayan dulot po ng epekto ng isang frontal system or ‘yung pagsasalubong ng malamig at mainit na hangin,” said Pagasa weather specialist Rhea Torres.

(It’s possible to experience rains in parts of northern Luzon or some parts of northern Luzon, particularly in Batanes and Cagayan, due to the effects of a frontal system or the convergence of cold and warm air winds.)

On the other hand, the rest of the country will continue to have hot and humid weather brought on by easterlies.

Meanwhile, the cloud clusters spotted in the southern portion of the country still can form into a low-pressure area.

Torres said it has a chance of entering the Philippine area of responsibility in the coming days.

“Sa ngayon po hindi pa rin ito nakaka-apekto sa ano mang bahagi ng ating bansa, kaya continuous pa rin po ‘yung monitoring natin,” she said.

Torres said no gale warning alert is raised in any parts of the archipelago’s seaboards.

  • Metro Manila: 27 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Baguio City: 18 to 25 degrees Celsius
  • Laoag City: 27 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Tuguegarao: 26 to 36 degrees Celsius
  • Legazpi City: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Puerto Princesa City: 27 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Tagaytay: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Kalayaan Islands: 27 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Iloilo City: 27 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Cebu: 27 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Tacloban City: 26 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Cagayan de Oro City: 26 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Zamboanga City: 25 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Davao City: 26 to 35 degrees Celsius
