BOC seizes ecstasy worth over P68 million hidden in shipment

MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) said on Wednesday that it intercepted a shipment that contained ecstasy worth more than P68 million.

According to the BOC in a statement, the shipment was apprehended in a joint operation with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group.

The drugs were hidden inside a box containing four packs of dog food, and on further inspection, it was revealed to have around 40,390 tablets of ecstasy.

The BOC added that authorities arrested four individuals, including the shipment’s claimant, in connection with the illegal shipment.

BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio said that the agency will not allow the entry of illegal drugs into the country in its campaign.

“[A]ligned with the directives of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., the BOC will continue to be vigilant and relentless in preventing the entry of illegal drugs and hazardous substances into the country,” Rubio said.
