MANILA, Philippines — Five firearms registered under wanted fugitive Apollo Quiboloy’s name were surrendered to the country’s police force, Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr. told INQUIRER.net. on Wednesday.

“Nakapag-surrender na ng five firearms,” said Abalos via phone call.

(They have surrendered five firearms.)

According to Abalos, Quiboloy’s staff surrendered the guns. He did not give details when it took place.

The Philippine National Police (PNP)  previously said Quiboloy owns 19 assorted guns.

Despite the self-proclaimed Appointed Son of God’s reported possession of several firearms, the PNP previously dismissed allegations that the sect leader is armed and dangerous.

In a separate statement also issued Wednesday, Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 said Davao police served the Firearms and Explosives Office License Revocation and Restoration Board to Quiboloy on May 2.

“The notice was received by Mr. Marlon Acobo, Executive Pastor, and authorized representative of Mr. Quiboloy’s Kingdom of Jesus Christ located at Jose Maria College, Philippine-Japan Friendship Highway, Sasa, Davao City,” said PRO 11.

After this, PRO 11 said Acobo “immediately turned in” five firearms consisting of the following: 1 colt rifle, 2 beret pistols and 2 metrillo pistols.”

Davao police said they were also informed that Quiboloy’s “other firearms had already been sold,” adding that Acobo “handed over 14 documents as proof.”

Two separately-issued arrest orders for Quiboloy are in effect for sexual abuse and human trafficking charges.

Apart from these cases, a warrant of arrest issued by the Senate panel on women headed by Senator Risa Hontiveros had also been released.
