MANILA, Philippines — Lakas–Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) Chair and Senator Bong Revilla on Wednesday made his first public appearance since tearing his Achilles tendon.

Revilla hobbled on a walker into the Manila Polo Club in Makati City for the alliance signing of Lakas-CMD and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP).

The injured senator said in an ambush interview that he had to be there as the occasion was “a very momentous event.”

“I am getting better, getting better. And, of course, still recovering. Road to recovery, but it’s a long way to go. Three to six months to one year because it is an Achilles tendon rupture. They totally cut it,” said Revilla in a mix of English and Filipino.

Revilla said he hoped to recover soon, saying he should be able to walk normally within the next three months.

The senator also said he plans to work in the Senate again physically after working virtually since his injury.
