MANILA, Philippines — The southern portion of Mindanao will see rains on Saturday brought by the easterlies, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
In an early morning forecast, the state weather bureau said that this will be particularly experienced in the Davao Region and Sarangani.

“Patuloy pa rin ang epekto ng easteriles o mainit na hangin galing sa Karagatang Pasipiko sa malaking bahagi ng ating bansa,” said Pagasa weather specialist Daniel James Villamil.
(The easterlies or warm air blowing from the Pacific Ocean continue to affect a large part of our country.)
“At makikita natin dito sa ating satellite images ang makakapal na ka-ulapan sa southeastern portion ng Mindanao, ito nga nag ‘yung epekto ng easterlies at posibleng magdulot ng mga pag-ulan ngayong araw sa malaking bahagi ng southern Mindanao,” he added.
(And we can see in our satellite images the thick clouds in the southeastern portion of Mindanao; it is the effect of the easterlies and could possibly bring rains today to a large part of southern Mindanao.)

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, on the other hand, will continuously have hot and humid temperatures, with chances of isolated rain showers or localized thunderstorms.
As for predicted temperature ranges in key cities and areas of the country for May 4, Pagasa issued the following:
- Metro Manila: 26 to 37 degrees Celsius
- Baguio City: 18 to 27 degrees Celsius
- Laoag City: 27 to 34 degrees Celsius
- Tuguegarao: 27 to 38 degrees Celsius
- Legazpi City: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius
- Puerto Princesa City: 27 to 34 degrees Celsius
- Tagaytay: 24 to 33 degrees Celsius
- Kalayaan Islands: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius
- Iloilo City: 27 to 33 degrees Celsius
- Cebu: 27 to 32 degrees Celsius
- Tacloban City: 27 to 32 degrees Celsius
- Cagayan de Oro City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
- Zamboanga City: 24 to 34 degrees Celsius
- Davao City: 26 to 32 degrees Celsius
Villamil said that no gale warning is raised in any parts of the country’s seaboards.
“Ibayong pag-iingat pa rin sa ating mga kababayan na maglalayag sapagkat kung mayroon tayong tayong offshore thunderstorm activity, ito ‘yung pag-ulan sa ating dagat baybayin, ay inaasahan natin ‘yung malalakas na hangin at kaakibat nito ang bahagyang pagtaas ng ating mga alon,” he said.
