“There’s wisdom in accepting defeat.”
So said Gigi Sanchez-Zaballero to businessman Glenn Soco after he declared that he will appeal the dismissal of his election protest before the Supreme Court.
In a press conference, Zaballero, daughter of the late vice governor Gregorio Sanchez, said the family is relieved with the dismissal of Soco’s election protest.
Zaballero urged Soco to stop trying to take away what his dad, the late Vice Go. Gregorio Sanchez has fought for.
“It’s the second time that na-confirm that my dad is the people’s choice as their vice governor despite the fact nga dili man gani ni victory karon kay wala naman siya dinhi sa kalibutan,” she said.
Zaballero emphasized that the family is relieved about the result and urged Soco to stop and accept his defeat.
“Let’s stop in trying to take away what my dad fought for,” she said.
The 20-page decision of the Commission on Election cited “lack of merit” as the reason for the dismissal.
It indicated that Soco will still be defeated by the late vice governor by a margin of 17,089 votes in all the protested precincts. The vice governor succumbed to cancer in April last year. CorrespondentCarmel Loise Matus
