In-person classes suspended in Rizal province on May 2-3

LUCENA CITY — All face-to-face or on-site school classes in Rizal province are suspended on Thursday and Friday (May 2 and 3) due to extreme heat.

Rizal Gov. Rebecca Ynares, in a Facebook post on Wednesday night, said that even though the heat felt in the province may be lower compared to other areas, “face-to-face classes are suspended at all levels in the entire province of Rizal from May 2 to 3, 2024 (Thursday and Friday).”

She advised school authorities to shift to “alternative learning modalities (asynchronous/blended learning, and others).”

Ynares said the suspension of face-to-face classes for private schools was left to the discretion of their school administration.

“Keep safe and dehydrated, Rizal,” the governor reminded the public.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration warned that temperatures would get even hotter this month.
