MANILA, Philippines — Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) members and pensioners in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna, who may have been affected by pertussis, may avail of an emergency loan from the agency.
In an advisory on Tuesday, the GSIS said that it had allotted P178 million to assist 6,918 of its members and pensioners in the city.

“Qualified active GSIS members living or working in Sta. Rosa borrow under the loan program. Old-age and disability pensioners residing in the calamity areas and meet the qualifications may also avail of the loan,” the advisory read.
GSIS noted that the loan is open until May 24 only.
It explained that members and pensioners with current emergency loans may borrow up to P40,000 to settle previous loan balances.
This would ensure them a maximum net amount of P20,000, GSIS said.
Meanwhile, those without any outstanding emergency loan may apply for a P20,000 loan.
GSIS noted that the loan has a six percent interest rate and a three-year payment term.

“Qualified borrowers may apply for the loan anytime, anywhere via the GSIS Touch mobile app,” the GSIS said.
It said qualified members are those “who have paid their premiums within the last six months prior to application; not on leave of absence without pay; and have no pending administrative or criminal case.”
GSIS added that after deducting all monthly obligations, they must also have a net take-home wage of at least P5,000.
The agency further added that pensioners are also qualified for the loan as long as their resulting net basic monthly pension after availing of the loan is at least 25 percent of their pension.
