Over P4.5 million marijuana confiscated in Kalinga—PDEA

Those who will be proven to have leaked the alleged Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) documents related to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s purported involvement in illegal drugs may face sanctions from authorities.

MANILA, Philippines — Anti-narcotics agents arrested two men who yielded over P4.5 million worth of dried marijuana leaves in the town of Rizal in Kalinga, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reported on Tuesday.

In a report, PDEA said the two suspects, identified as Arnel Sanga, 28, and Benjamin Marayag, 46, were apprehended during an operation at Barangay Santor on Monday evening.

No other details were provided to their arrest, but the agency said it had confiscated eight marijuana bricks (8,000 grams) with an estimated value of P960,000; three tubular marijuana dried leaves (3,000 grams) worth around P360,000; two sacks of dried leaves marijuana (18,300 grams) worth over P2.19 million; and two glass bottles of suspected marijuana oil worth P1.08 million.

Other pieces of evidence confiscated from the suspects were sacks, an air rifle, and a digital weighing scale.

Sanga and Marayag are now under police custody and will face complaints for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
