New DMW head outlines plans

MANILA, Philippines — Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Cacdac vowed to continue adhering to a rights-based approach in ensuring the protection of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), as a tribute to his predecessor and friend, the late Secretary Susan Ople, “whose passion, vision, work ethic and leadership will continue to be a beacon for our department.”

In a statement on Friday, Cacdac said his plans include proactive participation in regional and multilateral talks—in coordination with the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Labor and Employment—to further promote Filipino migrant workers’ rights, protection and development. —JANE BAUTISTA
