Manila Water keeps passing strict drinking water standards

MANILA, Philippines — Manila Water Co. Inc. continues to pass the stringent requirements of the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (PNSDW) of the Department of Health (DOH), assuring its 7.6 million customers in the East Zone of safe and potable water.

The company has maintained 100% compliance with the PNSDW standards for sampling surface water treatment facilities all year round.

As of December 2023, samples collected from the designated regulatory sampling points were 100% compliant with total coliform, physical, and chemical standards for water.

Through its ISO-certified and DOH-accredited laboratory and testing facilities, the East Zone concessionaire achieved a 110.66% compliance with the government standard for testing water treatment works, customer taps, service reservoirs, and pumping stations.

“The health of our customers is of paramount importance to the company. That is why Manila Water applies utmost diligence when it comes to testing and sampling water from our network. As we ensure water potability up to the meter, we request our customers to check the integrity of their internal reticulation to ensure water is safe to drink from their taps,” the director of Manila Water’s Corporate Communications Affairs Group, Jeric Sevilla, said.

The water concessionaire is also reminding their customers to always check the quality of the water of the water before drinking. Water should be clear and free of suspended particles and odor. Customers are requested to report any water quality concerns to the Manila Water Customer Care Hotline 1627.
