MANILA, Philippines — Residents in Metro Manila may experience another day of sweltering heat on Saturday, April 27, as the state weather bureau’s monitoring stations in Pasay and Quezon City are seen to log a dangerous heat index of 44 and 42 degrees Celsius, respectively.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), these heat indices fall within the “danger threshold” as they may cause “heat cramps, heat exhaustion” – and even “heat strokes with continued exposure.”
Meanwhile, the country’s highest heat index on Saturday is expected to be recorded in Dagupan City at 47 degrees Celsius.
In its forecast issued Thursday afternoon, Pagasa said the following areas in the Philippines are also expected to experience a “dangerous” heat index on April 27:

- Aparri, Cagayan – 46 degrees Celsius
- Bacnotan, La Union – 45 degrees Celsius
- Aborlan, Palawan – 45 degrees Celsius
- Cubi Pt., Subic Bay Olongapo City – 45 degrees Celsius
- Laoag City, Ilocos Norte – 44 degrees Celsius
- Legazpi City, Albay – 44 degrees Celsius
- Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – 44 degrees Celsius
- ISU Echague, Isabela – 44 degrees Celsius
- San Jose, Occidental Mindoro – 44 degrees Celsius
- Coron, Palawan – 44 degrees Celsius
- Sinait, Ilocos Sur – 43 degrees Celsius
- MMSU, Batac, Ilocos Norte — 43 degrees Celsius

Pagasa said a heat index ranging from 42 degrees Celsius to 51 degrees Celsius is in the “danger” category. Under these conditions, heat stroke is also probable due to continued sun exposure.
