Personal motive eyed in Caloocan killings
Aside from robbery, the police are looking into the possibility that the men who killed a mother and her daughter in Caloocan City on Saturday bore a deep-seated grudge against the victims.
Chief Inspector Rodrigo Soriano, city police investigation unit head, told the Inquirer that this was not farfetched judging by the number of stab wounds sustained by Faith Jaena, 50, and her daughter Tessa Ferlyn, 15.
Soriano said that Jaena was stabbed 50 times while her daughter suffered 30 stab wounds. Both were found dead inside their house at Block 35, Lot 4 in Palmera Spring 2, Barangay 173, at around 8 a.m. on Saturday.
“It’s possible that the motive was personal,” Soriano said when asked by the Inquirer. Based on facial composites released by the police, the two men believed to have killed the victims were between 25 and 33 years old.
A witness said he saw the two drinking on the terrace of the victim’s house hours before their bodies were found. Mayor Enrico Echiverri has offered a P200,000 reward for any information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects.—Kristine Felisse Mangunay
