MANILA, Philippines — Religious leader Apollo Quiboloy, who faces two cases of child abuse and qualified trafficking, is still in the Philippines, the Department of Justice (DOJ) spokesperson, Assistant Secretary Mico Clavano, said on Thursday.
Asked during a Palace briefing if the self-proclaimed son of God is still in the country, Clavano said: “We do have information that he is still within the country unless there are new developments from the country, but as far as our information is concerned at the DOJ, he is still currently in the country.”

“Just as an update as well, we transferred the cases from Davao to Pasig City so that the same team of prosecutors may be able to prosecute both cases together,” he added. “We are still — obviously, he is still at large, so the law enforcement agents are still on the lookout, and they have continued the operations to be able to arrest [Quiboloy] on the basis of the warrants issued by the court.”
Quiboloy is also on the Most Wanted list of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation for human trafficking.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has told Quiboloy to submit to the due process of the law. However, the pastor said he would not surrender unless the government could promise that the US would not intervene.
Marcos dismissed Quiboloy’s request, likening it to tail-wagging the dog.
