MANILA, Philippines — The Luzon grid has been placed under red and yellow alert until Tuesday night, said the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).
According to the NGCP, the Luzon Grid was placed under red alert from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and shifted to yellow alert from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The grid was then placed at red alert again at 6:00 p.m. and will last until 10:00 p.m.
Afterwards, a yellow alert will be hoisted at the Luzon Grid from 10:00 p.m. to 12 midnight.
A red alert status is issued when the power supply is insufficient to meet consumer demand and the transmission grid’s regulating requirement.
Meanwhile, a yellow alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission grid’s contingency requirement. It does not necessarily result in a power outage.
The current available capacity in Luzon is at 12,832 megawatts, while the peak demand is at 12,671 megawatts.
Meanwhile, the NGCP said the following areas were affected by the automatic and subsequent manual load dropping:

- LUELCO (parts of La Union) – Out 3:31 p.m., In: 3:45 p.m. (14 mins)
- TARELCO II (parts of Tarlac) – Out: 3:31 p.m., In: 3:46 p.m. (15 mins)
- CASURECO I & CASURECO II (parts of Camarines Sur) – Out: 3:30 p.m., In: 3:45 p.m. (15mins)
Manual load dropping:
- ISELCO 1 (parts of Isabela) – Out: 3:40 p.m., In: 4:42 p.m. (1hr and 2mins)
- SFELAPCO – Out: 3:41 p.m., In: 4:51 p.m. (1hr and 10mins)
