La Trinidad in Benguet declares Romualdez as its adopted son

MANILA, Philippines — House Speaker Martin Romualdez has been declared La Trinidad, Benguet’s “adopted son,” through a resolution adopted by the Sangguniang Bayan or the municipality’s legislative body.

In a statement on Sunday, Romualdez’s office said that La Trinidad officials gave the House leader a copy of Resolution No. 69-2024 during his visit to the province leading the launch of the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) program held at the Benguet Sports Complex.

“Resolved as it is hereby done, to declare the House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Gomez Romualdez, as an adopted son of the Municipality of La Trinidad, Benguet Province and bestowed with the name “Batakagan” (Brightest Star),” the two-page resolution reads.

“His noble intention and effort to visit and show support to the constituents of the municipality of La Trinidad deserve recognition worthy as a son,” it added.

The resolution also recognized the role of Romualdez in heading the implementation of BPSF.

Cover all 82 provinces in following months

In a separate statement, Romualdez said they aim to bring the BPSF to all 82 provinces in the following months.

He also revealed that around 80,000 beneficiaries in Benguet received P412 million in cash and aid through the BSFP from April 21 to 22, adding that a total of 70 national government agencies participated in delivering 326 services, including P261 million in financial aid to the locals in the province.

Covered within the P412 million were P110 million in social services, P10 million in health services, P50 million in agricultural services, P180 million in livelihood services, P35 million in educational assistance, P25 million in other government services, and P1 million in regulatory services.

The House leader is joined by 63 lawmakers who attended the Benguet leg of the BPSF, such as Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio Gonzalez, Jr., Deputy Speaker David Suarez, Majority Leader Manuel Jose Dalipe, and Deputy Majority Leader Erwin Tulfo.
