MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered all government agencies to support the program of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) on national crime prevention in a bid to lessen the prevalence of crimes nationwide.
In a statement on Sunday, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said DILG’s 2024 National Crime Prevention Program (NCPP) is consistent with the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028.
According to PCO, the agency submitted the 2024 NCPP to Marcos last February 22, detailing its goal “to provide cross-cutting strategies to further foster safe communities, protect the rights of Filipinos, and reduce the prevalence of criminal activities in the country.”
The Memorandum Circular No. 46 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin signed on April 18 directs “all government agencies and instrumentalities, as well as local government units (LGUs), to support and cooperate in the implementation of the 2024 NCPP.”
The National Police Commission will lead the implementation of the 2024 NCPP, based on Marcos’ instruction.
“The circular will take effect immediately,” the PCO said.
