MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila and the eastern part of Luzon may anticipate hotter weather on Saturday due to the ridge of a high pressure area, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

The presence of the ridge of a high pressure area means there would be less cloud formation and higher maximum temperatures – hence, a slim chance of rain.

“Itong ridge o extension ng isang high pressure area ang patuloy na umiiral sa silangang bahagi ng ating Luzon,” Pagasa expert Daniel James Villamil said in an early morning weather forecast.

(This ridge or extension of a high-pressure area continues to prevail over the eastern part of our Luzon.)

“Kaya for the next 24 hours patuloy tayong makararanas ng mainit at maalinsangang panahon dito sa Metro Manila at sa nalalabing bahagi ng ating bansa,” he added.

(So, for the next 24 hours, we will continue to experience hot and humid weather here in Metro Manila and in the remaining parts of our country.)

Villamil also said that no low pressure area was observed near or outside of the Philippine area of responsibility.

But he noted that several areas of the country may still experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms from Saturday afternoon to evening.
