Brian Poe-Llamanzares takes his oath as member of the PNP Aviation Security Group Special Operations Unit Advisory Council before Special Operations Unit Officer in Charge Police Major Denver Fias-Ilon

MANILA, Philippines – Brian Poe-Llamanzares, Chief of Staff of Senator Grace Poe, was sworn is as a member of the Philippine National Police –  Aviation Security Group Special Operations Unit Advisory Council (AVSEGROUP SOU-AC).

The council is made up of citizens who contribute their time, expertise, and resources towards the efforts of the SOU and the fulfillment of the vision of the PNP P.A.T.R.O.L. Plan 2030 “to become a highly capable, effective, and credible police service by 2030, with the active support of a responsive community.”

Among the members of the council are former PNP Special Operations Unit head retired police colonel Edgar Gatumbato, the current Officer in Charge of the SOU PMaj Denver Fias-Ilon, and the current Group Chairman of the  AVSEGROUP SOU-AC Ranny Ramond Nuñez.

Through the years, the council has worked to improve the training facilities of the SOU through their own private efforts.

Their contributions as a council are believed to be part of working towards the national security goals of the PNP P.A.T.R.O.L. Plan 2030. 

Poe – Llamanzares said that he is looking forward to greater cooperation between the aviation security group and the office of Senator Grace Poe. 

“It is nice to have an open line of communication with the PNP’s special operations unit. I look forward to working together with the special operations unit and Aviation Security Group to guarantee the safety of our fellow countrymen. The airports are our gateway to the world. It’s important that we contribute to strengthening our aviation security through quality training and capacity building”

Poe-Llamanzares, who is currently completing his second master’s degree in national defense and has his PhD in Public Administration, is the youngest member of the advisory council.

He hopes that his youth and legislative perspective may be of use to the council.
