Hot weekend weather expected – Pagasa
MANILA, Philippines—Clear skies and hot weather due to the ridge of a high pressure area (HPA) expected in most of the country this weekend, state meteorologists said on Friday afternoon.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that the ridge of the HPA, which extends over the eastern section of Luzon, still prevents any rain-inducing clouds from forming.
No low-pressure area or tropical cyclone was also observed near or outside the Philippine area of responsibility.
“Patuloy na ridge of high pressure area ang nag-eextend dito sa may eastern section ng Luzon. Para lang po sa kaalaman ng lahat, ang ridge of high pressure area ay ang kabaligtaran ng low pressure area,” Pagasa weather forecaster Chenel Dominguez said.
(The ridge of the high-pressure area extending to the eastern section of Luzon would persist. The ridge of a high-pressure area is the opposite of a low-pressure area.)
“Kung sa low pressure area po puro kaulapan ang nakikita natin, pagdating naman dito sa ridge of high pressure area mga maninipis na kaulapan lang po ang nakikita natin, kaya kung makikita po natin dito sa satellite imagery halos wala rin pong kaulapan tayong nakikita. Ito po ‘yong dahilan kung bakit tayo nakakaranas ng mainit na panahon,” she added.
(If we see clouds forming in a low-pressure area, we only have thin cloud formations in a ridge of a high-pressure area. That’s why, if you can see our satellite imagery, we almost cannot see clouds over the country. This is the reason why we continue to experience hot weather.)
Forecast temperature range on Saturday in Metro Manila is at 24 degrees to 35 degrees Celsius; Tuguegarao City 25 to 38 degrees Celsius; Laoag 24 to 32 degrees Celsius; Baguio City 18 to 26 degrees Celsius; Tagaytay City 22 to 33 degrees Celsius and Legazpi City 26 to 33 degrees Celsius.
The Visayas and Mindanao are likewise expected to experience warm weather with forecast temperature range in Cebu at 27 degrees to 32 degrees Celsius; Tacloban City 26 to 32 degrees Celsius; Iloilo 27 to 33 degrees Celsius; Cagayan de Oro 25 to 32 degrees Celsius; Zamboanga 24 to 34 degrees Celsius and Davao 25 to 34 degrees Celsius.
