Delivery rider turns over unclaimed marijuana to Cavite cops

LUCENA CITY — A delivery rider turned over on Thursday a box of dried marijuana leaves worth P18,000 to policemen in Dasmariñas City, Cavite.

On the afternoon of Wednesday, April 17, the Lalamove rider picked up a box from one alias “Gerard” in Barangay Langkaan to be delivered to a certain “Ismael” in Barangay San Isidro, Rodriguez, Rizal, the police in Region 4A said in a report Friday.

At around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, the delivery rider arrived in San Isidro. However, when he repeatedly contacted the receiver and the sender of the package, both of their mobile phones were unattended.

Suspicious of the cargo, the rider decided to open it and found a sealed plastic bag containing dried leaves.

He immediately brought the box to the Rodriguez police station and confirmed that the cargo was marijuana, weighing 150 grams and valued at P18,000.

The Rodriguez police accompanied the delivery rider to the Dasmariñas police station for documentation.

The police launched a manhunt to arrest Gerard and Ismael. INQ
