Man shot dead

A 26-YEAR-OLD technician was shot dead on Tuesday night by a still unidentified man at the corner of P. Gomez and Ronquillo Streets in Quiapo, Manila. The victim was identified as William Monterde, a resident of Gregor Street in Quiapo, and a technician working for a marketing shop nearby. The police said that earlier, a heated argument broke out between the shooter and the victim and his employer. The man then left but came back carrying a gun. “With intent to kill, treachery and evident premeditation, he then shot the victim, who was standing at the entrance of Aikon Marketing building at the time,” a report from the Manila Police District’s homicide section said. Monterde was rushed to Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center by his brothers Rodelio and Niño but was pronounced dead on arrival at 7:15 p.m. due to a lone gunshot wound in the chest. The police said they were still conducting a follow-up investigation.—Maricris Irene V. Tamolang
