MANILA, Philippines — The trough of a low pressure area (LPA) will bring rain over parts of Mindanao on Tuesday, with hot and humid temperatures expected to persist over the rest of the country, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

According to Pagasa weather specialist Veronica Torres, the LPA is not expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility and is only forecast to affect the country for a few days.

“Inaasahan na magdadala bukas ang trough ng LPA dito sa may Soccsksargen pati na rin sa Davao Region,” said Torres.

(The trough of the LPA is expected to bring rain over Soccsksargen and Davao Region.)

“Pero sa Visayas at rest of Mindanao mas maganda ang panahon na inaasahan pero may mga tiyansa pa rin ng localized thunderstorms,” she added.

(But in Visayas and the rest of Mindanao, fair weather conditions are expected, with chances of localized thunderstorms.)

Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies will persist over Luzon, with chances of rain due to localized thunderstorms.

Hot and humid temperatures are still forecast to persist throughout the country.

Pagasa said the temperature range in key cities/areas across the country for Tuesday will be:

  • Metro Manila: 25 to 35 degrees Celsius
  • Baguio City: 18 to 25 degrees Celsius
  • Laoag City: 25 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Tuguegarao: 25 to 38 degrees Celsius
  • Legazpi City: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Puerto Princesa City: 27 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Tagaytay: 23 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Kalayaan Islands: 27 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Iloilo City: 27 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Cebu: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Tacloban City: 25 to 33 degrees Celsius
  • Cagayan De Oro City: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius
  • Zamboanga City: 25 to 34 degrees Celsius
  • Davao City: 25 to 33 degrees Celsius

No gale warning is currently in effect over the country’s surrounding coasts and in-land seas.
