MANILA, Philippines – A delivery truck rammed a landmark in Tagaytay City early Wednesday, destroying the statue of martyred senator Benigno Aquino Jr. in its center, a witness on the scene told INQUIRER.net in a phone call.

The unidentified driver was rushed to a nearby hospital following the 3 a.m. accident near the Tagaytay Medical Center, said Monette Mendoza, a resident.

The incident caused traffic in the area as local authorities managed to move the truck only at about 1:30 p.m., Mendoza said.
