Fire hits residential building in Olongapo City

OLONGAPO CITY – A fire razed a residential building in Barangay Sta. Rita in this city early Monday, April 15, authorities said.

Jeffrey Lapid, Olongapo Fire Rescue Operations chief, said they received at 7:50 a.m. multiple calls from concerned citizens about the fire in Balic- Balic Road.

“Right there and then we dispatched a team from the city disaster risk reduction management office and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP),” said Lapid in a phone interview.

Citing reports from BFP, Lapid said the engulfed structure is a mix of light and concrete materials.

He said the damage was pegged at P300,000.

The fire was declared under control at 8:10 a.m. and extinguished a few minutes later.

The BFP is still conducting an investigation to establish the cause of the fire. No one was hurt in the incident. INQ
