OLONGAPO CITY — The impact of the rising temperature due to the El Niño weather phenomenon has started to be felt in this city affecting the local water system, officials said on Sunday, April 14.
An advisory of Subic Water said the local water concessionaire was experiencing “multiple challenges” brought about by El Niño.
It said some households are seeing water discoloration and a decline in supply and quality in other areas compared to the previous years.

“The extreme heat is not only affecting water quality but also our raw water supply and treatment methodologies,” Subic Water said.
“This is in addition to the higher demand in our service areas and maintaining the necessary pressure in our main lines, particularly for potential firefighting purposes,” it said. INQ
