MANILA, Philippines — The woman who claimed to be an Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) member to get away from illegally using the Edsa Bus Carousel lane or Edsa busway, is not part of the military force, according to its spokesperson Col. Francel Margareth Padilla.
“She is not a member of the AFP,” Padilla told reporters on Sunday.
The AFP official added that they do not “condone nor tolerate any behavior that undermines the integrity of [their] institution or violates the law.”
“We take allegations of misconduct and misrepresentation seriously within our ranks. The DOTr-SAICT (Department of Transportation-Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation) has not yet coordinated with the proper AFP office regarding the issue and the identity of the violator,” Padilla revealed.
Earlier, the Philippine National Police (PNP) identified the woman as a certain “Major Miguel,” who also claimed to be related to Brig. Gen. Mario Reyes.

PNP said Reyes is already talking to his lawyers about filing a criminal case against the individual, as he urged the concerned government agencies to file usurpation of authority charges against her.
The DOTr-SAICT said its operatives stopped the woman in Guadalupe, Makati City, at a section of the bus lane last Thursday.
