DOH immunizes over 646,000 kids against measles

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) said on Wednesday that it has vaccinated more than 646,000 children against measles nationwide as of April 10.

This number translates to 47 percent of the department’s target of 1.3 million.

The DOH said that over 91,000 were six to 23 months old, more than 205,000 were two years old and below five years old, and over 350,000 were five to nine years old.

Meanwhile, the department said three children had adverse effects of fever and vomiting after being vaccinated.

The DOH will continue its immunization campaign on Wednesday in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

“The BARMM Measles Outbreak Response Immunization (MORI) started April 1 and was implemented during the weekend. The MORI implementation stopped to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, April 10, and will resume operation today, April 11,” it said.
