TAGUM CITY — The Office of the President has suspended Davao del Norte Gov. Edwin Jubahib for 60 days due to a pending administrative complaint against him.

The order was dated April 8, 2024, and signed for the President by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin. Officers of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) served the order on Thursday morning amid strong resistance by Jubahib’s supporters and provincial government employees.

The preventive suspension, according to Bersamin, is to preclude Jubahib from influencing witnesses and posing a threat to the evidence of the case of grave abuse of authority and oppression filed by board member Orly Amit.

DILG-11 regional director Abdullah Matalam told local reporters on Thursday that Vice Governor De Carlo Uy shall be acting governor for 60 days.
