Sara Duterte answers questions from reporters on March 13, 2024
MANILA, Philippines — Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte reminded the public to forgive, remain humble, and deepen their faith as the country observes Eid’l Fitr, or the Festival of Breaking the Fast, on Wednesday.
Eid’l Fitr is an Islamic holiday marking the end of Ramadan when Muslims fast daily from dawn to sunset.

“Ang pagtatapos ng Ramadan ay paalala sa atin na maging mapagpakumbaba, mapagpatawad, at palalimin pa ang ating pananampalataya.
(As Ramadan ends, we are reminded to be humble, forgive, and deepen our faith.
“Nawa’y patuloy nating isabuhay ang mga aral ng Qur’an at ng Propetang Muhammad, at itaguyod ang kabutihan sa ating kapwa.
(I hope we continue to apply the Qur’an and Prophet Muhammad’s teachings in our lives and promote kindness among our neighbors.)
Earlier Wednesday, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. encouraged Filipinos to remain united despite diversity in their “beliefs and philosophies” for his Eid’l Fitr message.
Similarly, Duterte highlighted the importance of unity and love for the country.
“Sa kabila ng ating pagkakaiba, ang pagkakaisa, paggalang, at pagmamahal sa ating bansa ay napakahalaga,” the vice president said.
(Despite our differences, unity, respect, and love for our country are the most important.)
