Senate staff serving Quiboloy arrest order arrives in Davao

MANILA, Philippines — The Senate’s Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA), tasked to serve the arrest order of religious leader and alleged sex offender Apollo Quiboloy arrived in Davao City on Monday, according to the police.
Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 – Public Information Office chief Major Catherine Dela Rey said OSAA Director III Manny Parlade and Director II Gil Valdez handed out the documents for Quiboloy’s arrest to Davao authorities.
“Personnel from OSAA arrived yesterday (April 8) and gave the transmittal of the arrest order during the coordinating meeting,” Dela Rey told INQUIRER.net in a Viber message on Tuesday evening.
“The arrest order will be served by the Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms with the assistance of PRO 11 as soon as the whereabouts of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy is determined,” she added.
Among those present during the meeting with OSAA were PRO 11 Director Brig. Gen. Alden Delvo and National Bureau of Investigation Director Atty. Angelito Albao.
On April 2, OSAA asked the Philippine National Police for assistance in serving Quiboloy’s arrest warrant.
This came after the Senate issued an order last March 19 for Quiboloy’s arrest and detention for his failure to appear before the upper chamber’s probe on his alleged crimes.
The order was signed by Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri and was issued by Senator Risa Hontiveros, chairperson of the Senate committee on women, children, family relations, and gender equality.
The Senate started its inquiry last January 23 after former members of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ claimed to have witnessed instances of sexual abuse within the organization.
Quiboloy has also been declared a fugitive by authorities days after arrest warrants against him was released by a Davao Regional Trial Court for violating Republic Act 7610 or the Anti-Child Abuse Law, specifically the provision on sexual abuse of minors and maltreatment.
