MANILA, Philippines — After the declaration of Eid’l Fitr on Wednesday, April 10 as a holiday, the public may enjoy another long weekend starting tomorrow, Saturday, April 6.
It should, however, be noted that Monday, April 8, is not a public holiday.

But for those with no work on Monday or those planning to take a leave on that day, the long weekend will last for a total of five days.
This is due to the Araw ng Kagatingan, or “Day of Valor,” already declared by Malacañang as a holiday, falling on Tuesday, April 9.
This long weekend comes just a week after the observance of Holy Week, where the public also enjoyed a long weekend from March 28, Maundy Thursday, until Easter Sunday.
April 8 eclipse
While April 8 not being a holiday has “eclipsed” the possibility of a five-day rest for those who have work on Mondays, a rare total solar eclipse is also set to occur on the same day, rousing the scientific community and celestial event enthusiasts.
Sadly, the eclipse will not be visible in the Philippines as it will only be briefly seen from Mexico to Canada.
