MANILA, Philippines — Renato Constantino Jr. has died at the age of 79.
Constantino’s death was confirmed by the Constantino Foundation, but it did not elaborate on the details of his passing.
“With great sadness, we announce the passing of Renato Constantino, Jr. – ‘RC’ to family and friends. We mourn the unbearable loss even as we celebrate a life fully lived,” the foundation wrote on its Facebook page.
A wake will be held for Constantino on April 8 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. at 38 Panay Ave., Barangay Paligsahan, Quezon City.
A known activist, Constantino is also the son of historian Renato Constantino Sr., who authored historical books such as “The Past Revisited” and “The Continuing Past.”
His daughter, veteran journalist Karmina Constantino-Torres remembered him as her “hero.”
“I just lost my hero. Pop, help me pull through…,” she posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Senator JV Ejercito also expressed his condolences to Constantino’s family.
“So sad to hear this. So to a good friend, RC!” he commented on the post of the Constantino Foundation.
