Pagasa: Rain in Davao, Soccsksargen due to localized thunderstorms

MANILA, Philippines — Localized thunderstorms will bring overcast skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Davao and Soccsksargen regions on Thursday, according to the state weather agency.

In an early morning advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said moderate to heavy rains may be expected in these areas. It advised affected residents to be alert and take precautions for possible flash floods or landslides.

Pagasa likewise said slightly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are likely to occur in other areas of the country, including Metro Manila. It warned that flash floods or landslides may happen during intense thunderstorms.

Nevertheless, the state meteorologist predicted generally fair weather conditions for Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

“Base naman sa ating latest satellite animation, wala tayong nakikitang bagyo na papasok ng ating Philippine area of responsibility hanggang matapos ang weekend,” Pagasa specialist Benison Estareja meanwhile said in an early Thursday morning public weather report.
