7 unconscious after Japan hotel blaze

TOKYO – Seven people are in a serious condition after a fire at a Japanese hotel on Sunday morning, the local fire department said.

“Ten people were taken to hospital,” said a local fire department official, adding that seven were unconscious.

The fire started at a hotel in Fukuyama, 600 kilometers (373 miles) west of Tokyo, in Hiroshima prefecture, the official said.

“The fire is already under control, and rescuers are checking if any more people are still in the building,” he said.
