2 alleged NPAs killed in Northern Samar

At least four alleged members of the New People’s Army (NPA) died in two encounters with government troopers in Catarman town, Northern Samar on Sunday, May 28.

MANILA, Philippines — Two alleged members of the communist New People’s Army (NPA) were killed in a Wednesday encounter in Northern Samar, according to authorities.

A firefight broke out between the operating troops of the 19th Infantry Battalion of the Joint Task Force Storm and members of the NPA at Barangay Osmeña in Las Navas town.

Both of them figured in a 20-minute firefight.

One of the rebels was killed during the encounter while the other died due to his injuries after sustaining a gunshot wound. Both remain unidentified as of posting.

Also, two M16 Rifles, several war materiel, and personal belongings were also recovered.
