MANILA, Philippines — Several areas across the country suspended the conduct of in-person classes on Wednesday, April 3, amid forecast high levels of heat index.
The state weather bureau defines heat index as “a measure of the contribution that high humidity makes with abnormally high temperatures in reducing the body’s ability to cool itself.”
With several areas expected to reach “danger category” heat indexes exceeding 42 degrees Celsius, Pagasa warns that such temperatures may cause heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and even heat stroke during continued exposure.

Metro Manila: all levels (both public and private) in Pasay City.
Central Luzon: all levels (both public and private) in Angeles City, Pampanga; all levels (both public and private) in Mabalacat City, Pampanga; all levels (both public and private) in San Fernando City, Pampanga; all levels (both public and private) in Floridablanca, Pampanga; all levels (both public and private) in Bacolor, Pampanga; and preschool to senior high school (public) in Malolos City, Bulacan.
