MANILA, Philippines — Generally fair weather will prevail over the country on Tuesday despite chances of isolated rain showers, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

In an early morning report, Pagasa weather specialist Rhea Torres noted that both the ridge of the high-pressure area (HPA) and easterlies would bring sweltering weather nationwide.

“Sa kasalukuyan po ‘yung mga weather systems na nakakaapekto sa ating bansa ay ‘yung ridge or extension ng isang HPA na nakakaapekto sa silangang bahagi ng Northern and Central Luzon,” she said.

(Currently, the weather systems affecting our country are the ridge or extension of an HPA affecting the eastern part of Northern and Central Luzon.)

“Samantala patuloy pa rin ‘yung pag-iral ng easterlies, o ‘yung mainit na hangin na nanggagaling sa Dagat Pasipiko sa nalalabing bahagi ng ating bansa,” Torres added.

(Meanwhile, the easterlies, or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, continue to prevail in the remaining parts of our country.)

Still, she warned of partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms from afternoon to evening due to localized thunderstorms.

Pagasa said people living in low-lying areas should be alert and take caution against possible flash floods and landslides during severe downpours.

Torres likewise mentioned that the state weather agency did not raise a gale warning alert over any part of the country’s seaboards on Tuesday.

In the same report, Torres disclosed the possible temperature ranges in key cities or areas of the country for April 2:

The forecast temperature range, however, is different from the predicted heat index, which is also known as the apparent temperature.
