MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard’s (PCG) Facebook page has once again fallen victim to hacking, after previous cyberattacks in February.

According to the PCG, an “unknown entity” gained access on its Facebook page at around 12:30 p.m.

PCG Spokesperson CG Rear Admiral Armand Balilo said the Coast Guard Public Affairs (CGPAS) monitored two “malicious short videos” posted on the page during the hacking.

“The CGPAS is now coordinating with the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center under the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to conduct backend operations and assess the security breach,” the PCG said in a statement.

This recent hacking marks the fourth time the PCG faced a cyber attack this year. It is similar to the most recent attack on February 26 where PCG lost access to its Facebook page after two short videos were also uploaded.

The PCG was only able to regain full access to its page four days later on Feb. 29.

Meanwhile, on Feb 15, the X (formerly Twitter) page of PCG was also temporarily hacked, with access only being regained a few hours later.

The DICT on Feb. 3 also reported that the website of PCG, along with other government websites, were targeted by cyberattacks made from an internet protocol address traced to a location in China.
