MANILA, Philippines — Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Commissioner and former Senior Deputy Executive Secretary (SDES) Hubert Dominic Guevara has died, the Office of the President (OP) announced Friday.
The OP said the government official died earlier in the day, but did not give any detail on the cause of his death. Tributes to Guevara indicated that he was 55 years old.
“The Office of the President extends our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of SEC Commissioner and former Senior Deputy Executive Secretary (SDES), Atty. Hubert Dominic Guevara, who joined our Creator earlier today,” the OP in a Facebook post.
Early this month, the SEC welcomed back Guevera as President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had moved him there from the OP, where he served as an SDES. Guevara’s last post at the SEC was director of compliance and enforcement department, which is now known as the enforcement and investor protection department.
“Former SDES Guevara will be remembered for his spirit, dedication, and exemplary service to the Filipino people. He will remain fondly in the memory of all who had the privilege of working with him and calling him a friend,” said the OP.
