MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said on Wednesday that 3,950 households will benefit from community-based sub-projects that it turned over to barangays in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.
According to the DSWD, the community-based sub-projects totalled around P5 million, through the combined funds of the DSWD’s Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services – National Community Driven Development Program, and from the local government units of Guihulngan.

“Some 3,956 household-beneficiaries from barangays Binobohan, Hinakpan, Humayhumay, Imelda, Planas, Sandayao, Tacpao, and Trinidad are expected to benefit from these completed sub-projects,” the DSWD Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao said.
The sub-projects were turned over by the DSWD on March 26.
The projects include infrastructure, such as the construction access roads and street lights, as well as other cultural amenities, the DSWD added.

“These sub-projects exemplify the significance of community-driven development as these were tailored fit with the needs of the respective communities who identified the project themselves,” Dumlao added.
