According to the BOC, the parcel which was found on March 25 had an estimated street value of P20.59 million.
The contraband was labeled as “whey protein,” but upon further inspection, authorities found plastic vacuum-sealed white pouches.
The agency added that the claimant of the parcel was arrested, and will face a formal complaint for drug-related violations.
“The seizure is part of an ongoing operation to further fortify the country’s borders against the entry of illegal drugs,” Naia District Collector Yasmin Mapa said.
BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio added that the agency has launched a drive against illegal drugs intentionally labeled as health supplements.
“The BOC will not tolerate such tactics, and ordered a nationwide intensified vigilance against substances disguised as health supplements,” Rubio said.
