Authorities on Tuesday suspended their search for six people missing after a packed cargo ship slammed into a Baltimore bridge, causing it to collapse and blocking one of the busiest US commercial harbors.

“Based on the length of time that we’ve gone in this search, the extensive search efforts that we put into it, the water temperature… at this point we do not believe that we’re going to find any of these individuals still alive,” US Coast Guard Rear Admiral Shannon Gilreath told a press conference as night fell.

Three injured and hospitalized Navy personnel recalled their harrowing experience during the water cannon assault of the China Coast Guard (CCG), which they deemed to be the worst incident they encountered so far.

The injured Navy personnel of the charted boat Unaizah Mae 4, were visited by Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr. at Camp Ricarte Station Hospital.

Plastic drivers’ license cards finally out in April

Starting next month, motorists can apply for their driver’s license, which will be printed on plastic cards based on a schedule released by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Tuesday.

“I have already instructed our officials down to the regional level to prepare this list of schedules and finish it before Maundy Thursday. Our goal is to start the distribution process of the plastic-printed [licenses] next week,” LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II said in a statement.
